Penalty for breach of this Local Rule: General Penalty in stroke play or loss of hole in match play.
Information boards located at each teeing area indicate the penalty areas on that hole. The boundaries of penalty areas, including water hazards and waste areas, are marked with red dots on the course maps.
Players are encouraged to review these diagrams before play to familiarise themselves with the layout and identify all penalty areas relevant to the hole.
Out of bounds is defined in two ways:
White stakes mark out of bounds on holes 4 and 5, along the right-hand side of the hole in the direction of play.
On holes 1 and 3, red stakes with black tops are positioned on the right-hand side. These areas are designated No Play Penalty Areas. Play from these areas is prohibited, and players must take relief under penalty of one stroke.
On holes 6, 7, 13, 15, and 16, the boundary of the course is defined by the road running around the resort. In these locations, the boundary is determined by the inner edge of the road (the edge closest to the golf course).
A ball is considered out of bounds when its entire circumference lies on or beyond the road.
Penalty areas are defined by stakes, lines, or natural physical boundaries. In most cases, the boundaries are identified by natural features.
Penalty areas include all water features on holes:
5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 17, and 18
Penalty areas also include the course’s distinctive waste areas (sand and stone areas with natural vegetation) located on holes:
2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 16
All penalty areas on the course are designated as Red Penalty Areas.
Their boundaries are marked either by a red line or by natural features such as changes in terrain, vegetation, or landscape character.
Players may play a ball as it lies within a penalty area if possible, or alternatively proceed under the Rules of Golf with a one-stroke penalty.
The areas marked by red stakes with black tops on the right-hand side of holes 1 and 3 are designated No Play Penalty Areas and environmentally protected zones.
Entry into these areas is strictly prohibited, including for the purpose of searching for a ball.
Players must not play a ball from these areas and are required to take relief under penalty of one stroke.
